Ovation Productions will be handling the Manila leg of Beauty and the Beast at the CCP main theater. The production, which reunites the original Broadway creative, will have Rob Roth as director and Matt West as choreographer. Costume design is by Tony Award winning Ann Hould-Ward, lighting design by Natasha Katz, scenic design by Stanley A. Meyer, sound design by John Petrafesa Jr., and music supervision by Michael Kosarin. Music is by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman, a book by Linda Woolverton, and additional songs with music by Menken and lyrics by Tim Rice.
Beauty and the Beast tells the classic story of Belle, a spirited and courageous young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is in fact a cursed prince. The Beast can only return to his former human self if he learns to love before his time runs out. Otherwise, the terrible spell stays with him and all of his household forever.
