Metro Manila · July Stammtisch with Mexican food and international flair
The 'Megacitizens Stammtisch' is growing more international every month. Twenty people from ten different countries joined the Expat-Get-Together in July to exchange ideas, discuss the latest developments in the Metro as well as to share their thoughts on the set topic 'Trust It!'.
The crowd that gathered in the cozy outside area of the Agave Mexican Cantina in Bonifacio High Street (The Fort) was composed of people from various parts of the world including South Korea, Brazil, India, France and Germany just to name some. Discussions further revealed that many of the expats who were present found work either in the business process outsourcing industry (BPO) or work for international and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Similarly, all of them face equal challenges - but to talk about them, they all came together at the Stammtisch.
The topic of the evening was set to 'Trust It!', and the participants took the opportunity to exchange the names of trusted dentists and medical specialists as well as addresses of favorite restaurants and bakeries. This topic is of vital importance. We all know how difficult it is to find a new dentist or doctor when we change from one city to another in the same country. Finding good and trusted dentists or doctors cross-border, maybe at the other end of the world, takes a lot of time and patience. That's what you really need in a Megacity.
While enjoying fruit-shakes, ice-cold Margaritas, Quesadillas and bottomless Nachos, everybody was making new friends and sharing his or her personal 'survival tips' for life in Metro Manila. Bonding, talking and sharing experiences went on for many hours so that the Megacitizens were quite literally closing down the place when leaving.
The upcoming August Stammtisch is already being planned. We will update you with time and place through our Facebook Fanpage.
We are looking forward to see more new faces and all the old faces!
